The Blindness of King Lear
In William Shakespeares play, King Lear, we shown ways in which Goneril uses her wit to create an fatten speech to trick Lear into retrieve she loves him. This is the Kings first act of cecity inside the play, and because he is nearly deceived by his two first daughters, Goneril and Regan, this creates a domino subject of bad choices; one of these being the banishment of Cordelia due to his unfitness to recover the reality of Cordelias true(p) love for him. This I believe also shows us Lears unfitness to think clearly because Lear banishes his firm servant Kent, for pretty ofttimes trying to protect Cordelia from Lears invention irrationality.\nThis first act of cecity sets even sots in motion within the play we begin to operate Lear goes done a psychological change, from living in day-dream to a reality that is agonistic upon him due to his decisions in the beginning of the play. Lear is thrust into this reality by his two daughters who seem to be hell-bent on torm enting Lear passim the play. I believe that because of Lears unfitness to see people for who they rightfully are, and their true intentions Lear has managed to isolate himself from everyone that sincerely cares for him. This in turn makes Lear realise feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, and isolation. Here we can see how Lear starts to lose his grip on reality as well as his sanity.\nHowever through his insanity he begins to remove the insight that has evaded him, and Lear realizes that Goneril and Regan do non love him like they state they did. It is only during this point in time that Lear begins to realize that Cordelia even though her speech was non as elaborate or witty as her sisters was and so heartfelt. As a subscriber we can see that up until this point Lears blindness has set him to mak e many mistakes. B...
